Unique Vacations

Today in my journey to kill time at work, I came across this slide show. Right off I wanted to send my "little" sister to Cottonwood, Idaho to indulge her new found infatuation with dogs. Later, I thought of how much my boss and his family would love the unending supply of air for scuba diving tanks offered at Jules’ Undersea Lodge in Emerald Lagoon, Key Largo, Florida. For each slide I could think of someone (or several someones) who would love a trip there. I'm sure that by now anyone who is a regular reader of this blog knows my love of travel/vacations. And you might know of my love of the unique, but maybe not...Well, for all of you in doubt, I love unique things. I love to find the obscure bench or cafe or trail; anywhere that I can make my own, and not have a million people running around. I've never been much of a fan of the passing craze. I don't read books because a certain vowel thinks they're good. I don't wear pink because it's the new black. I don't buy new cell phones just because they're new. I do things because I want to, or because a friend I trust encourages it. Now, for those of you who don't know me, don't get confused--I'm not an out-there freak trying to make a statement. I still have my natural hair color, I'm pretty good at blending into a crowd, and I do wear some trendy clothes. I'm just saying that I do things because I like/want to, and not because it's "all the rage."

Sorry about that tangent, I'll put my soapbox away for another day. Today, my intent is the vacation spots. Who else thought those sounded like fun? Which one would you pick to go on first? (I really do want to see your answer to this in the comment section) Do any of them make you nervous? I know I'd have a problem with scuba diving in Florida--aren't there tons of alligators and sharks there? Do you know of any others I should add to my list of adventures?

That cave in Turkey looked amazing and cool. But I think I would pick the Sri Lanka island. It looks so beautiful and peaceful. And it looks like you can get an elephant ride. Bonus!

Ditto on the Sri Lanka island. I am almost on a plane right now. Man do I need some sun and beach right now.

I don't wear pink because it's the new black, either. I wear pink because it's my absolute fave! I love pink.

Wow! they all look so great! i think when im rich and famous i will check them all out. sri lanka does look cool. it looks like the home of tarzan or something. i even thought the tiny red shack on the lake looked like fun...it needs a sea do parked next to it for access to and from the pad though.

I'm in for the caves in Turkey. Or the little private island in Sweden (even though I'd be slightly afraid of being washed out to sea).

I think my fav. was the private Island paradise, too, but I do want to go to all of them! They look like so much fun!

So many of them are unique, but I think I probably like the least unique of them - the place in British Columbia. It just looks beautiful. Plus, I've always wanted to kaya amongst the orcas. I almost did it with my dad when we were in Alaska a few years ago, but we did a canoeing thing instead. I just really love beautiful mountainy settings, but I do think the Sri Lanka thing would be awesome - if you got to ride the elephant!

Where would I send you? Probably to the The Harlingen Harbor Crane in the Netherlands. It's the most unique and exciting. And really, where else would you get to play in a crane?

I'm going to the hunting lodge in Kenya. . . that is pretty sweet--it would be like "The Ghost and the Darkness," except, if I recall correctly, you thought that was a scary movie. . . nothing wrong with two lions hunting humans. . . :)

Ya--that one looked like fun too--although, you've probably ruined it for me now that it's associated with a scary movie. I'm not sure yet, because I've never heard of that movie. I hope I never find out what it's about so I can pretend it's about casper the friendly ghost relaxing as the sun goes down...
